Money.
No one likes to talk about it. We always feel embarrassed about asking for it. But we always need it and as a small community, we can make it stretch a long way. We receive money from the government to provide the basis of the care we provide to people with a learning disability. But L'Arche seeks to be something more than a decent care home - we're a living community of friendship and relationship. Dontations pay for the things other funders won't:
- The friendship retreats that allow two friends, one with a disability and one without, to attend a retreat which allows both to deepen their understanding of the other
- The community gatherings, where the whole community of houses and workshops gather together to celebrate community,
- The community pilgrimage - a four-day walk along the seaside of Kent (you're welcome to join)
